Pre-tertiary school teachers across the country have declared an indefinite strike pending a “better” response from the government and the Ghana Education Service. Due to this, most of the teachers have decided to stay at home in order to force the government to do the needful for them.
Some parents have also decided to let their wards stay at home because their child would not learn anything when he or she goes to school.
Mr. Boakye Yiadom Amponsah, a labour expert has sent a message to the government concerning the indefinite strike action declared by the teachers. Speaking on Neat FM this morning, Mr. Amponsah revealed that the government should sack all teachers who fail to go to school on Friday. He added that the strike action declared by the teachers is very unlawful. He added that the timing for this strike is also very wrong.
He added that the government should terminate their contracts and give other youths the chance to be in the teaching field. He believes that if the government sack teachers who fail to go to work by Friday, the government can get over 100,000 graduates to occupy those vacancies.
