Dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah, known in show business as Shatta Wale has pleaded guilty to publication of false news.
Shatta Wale has been fined Ghc2,000 by the Accra Circuit Court for falsely claiming he was dead in October last year.
Failure to pay the fine will result in Shatta Wale serving a term of three months in prison.
The court , presided over by Emmanuel Essandoh, slapped Shatta Wale with the fine after the artiste pleaded guilty to publication of false news.
If Shatta Wale fails to pay the fine, he will be liable to spend three months in jail.
The musician, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, pleaded to the false publications charges on Wednesday, June 29.Prior to his arrest in a lengthy Facebook post, he apologized to his fans and people who had been affected by the prank.
The case was, however, postponed many times since Shatta Wale travelled out of the country.
