One of the National Democratic Congress’s outspoken MPs, Okudzeto Ablakwa, says Eugene Arhin’s defence does not change the cost of Nana Addo’s flight.
His statement is in response to the Director of Communications to the presidency’s statement he released yesterday with regards to the president’s expensive jet he chartered to the summit in Belgium and Rwanda.
According to the statement from Eugene Arhin, the President did not fly with the said flight K5-Aviation from Accra but on transit because there was an alleged strike action by workers which was going to cause stranding, therefore the need for the president to charter the aircraft.
However, honorable Okudzeto Ablakwa in a tweet says this explanation does not change the cost of the chartered jet. Whether from Accra, or Kigali, or wheresoever Nana Addo boarded the flight, the cost of the flight remains 480, 000 euros, which is 4.1 million Ghana Cedi equivalent.
The value is the same he stated emphatically “it is certainly immaterial at what point the President who promised to protect the public purse decides to unconscionably and cruelly raid the purse – be it from Accra, Brussels, Kigali, London, Kabul, Nur-Sultan or Tbilisi – the value is the same”.
