Black Stars of Ghana have defeated Chile 3:1 via penalties the ongoing Kirin Cup tournament in Japan. Jordan Ayew, Kudus Mohammed and Abdul Fatawu Isshaku scored for Ghana while goalkeeper Absul Manaf Nurudeen saved two for Ghana. Black Stars managed for the goalless draw despite playing with numerical disadvantage. Defender Alidu Seidu and Mubarak Wakasu took an early shower in the second half of the game. Ghana lost heavily to host nation Japan in the opening fixture.
In today’s game, Black Stars of Ghana started the game on a brighter note, keeping balls while creating spaces to beat the opponent. The first half was a complete dominance from Dede Ayew and his teammates as they remained tactically aware of what could be the outcome should they commit blunders.
In defense, Daniel Amartey was at his usual best to organize his colleagues and keep an eye on opposing players that can easily get a goal. Goalkeeper Manaf did not disappoint as he kept his composure in the post.
In midfield and upfront, Dede Ayew and Kudus Mohammed were seen in most occasions trying to profit from loose balls while pushing for balls into Chile’s final box. Even though Black Stars could not break the deadlock in the first half but they took control of events, ensuring that they do not concede either. Chile also made few attempts to get the opener but that was prevented by Black Stars.
The second half did not make huge difference as the two sides kept possessing balls and making runs when necessary but goals continue to evade Ghana and Chile. Black Stars were dealt a blow as Alidu Seidu was red carded in the 69th minutes of the game. Before the card, Seidu Alidu was the one of emerging talents for Black Stars. He had played so well and executed his roles with diligence.
Coach Otto Addo decided to vary his approach but Black Stars were handed another red card through Mubarak Wakasu in the 78th minutes. Ghana had to endure the remaining minutes with nine men.
Black Stars ended the entire proceedings with a goalless. A winner had to be decided via spot kick and Ghana had their way to place third in the Kirin Cup tournament. Jordan Ayew, Kudus Mohammed and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku bravely converted for Black Stars as goalkeeper Manaf saved two for Ghana. It appears promising for coach Otto Addo and his henchmen.
