Following yesterday’s incident that occurred at the Kumasi Islamic senior high school in which students protesting the poor road network and non availability of traffic directors which has led to many students been jammed by vehicles. The police upon arrival fired tear gas and Ammunition on innocent and armless students who only wanted the attention of the school authorities to improve the conditions of the school.
The Ghana police service has finally removed the Ashanti regional police commander Kwesi Apemeah Apreku with immediate effect following his inability to instill law and order, as well as failure to control defenseless demonstrating high school students.
Many of the students were either hit with rubber bullets or suffocated by the constant tear gases that were being shot at them to disperse them. Majority of the students were rushed to various hospitals and medical centers after most of them, majority being female collapsed upon inhaling the tear gases.
Many agitated parents rushed to the renowned school to check on their wards and were dumbstruck and shocked at the unprofessional behavior of the police officers who were brought to instill calm rather causing havoc.
Fortunately, no deaths have been reported so far but many students are still in admission at the various hospitals they were rushed too. The president and information minister are yet to speak on the matter but Ghanaians have however been very agitated about the matter, calling on agencies in charge to investigate the matter and a possible fine be imposed on the Ghana police service.
