The Inspector General Police, Mr Dampare who is currently at Kumasi to monitor what went wrong between the clash of the police and students of the Islamic Senior High School. Early morning on Monday, June 13, students of the Islamic SHS and Ghana police clashed after the students decided to demonstrate on rampant knockdown of students in front of their school.
Addressing the students on Monday after the chaos, Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare said he will launch investigations into the incident to ascertain the police’s crowd control failings that left dozens hospitalised. It is believed that about 30 students has been hospitalized after the clash between them and the police.
“I also want to assure you that whatever happened in terms of the policing aspect of it, we are going to look into it and take all actions that need to be taken to ensure that at the end of the day, the right thing is done, professionalism is deepened in a manner that will not put anybody’s lives at risk because as Police, we are here to protect lives and property and if we cannot do that, we might have failed our duties and our mandates and it is something that we do not want to do,” he said.
He went ahead to ensure the construction of speed ramps on the road in front of their main gate. The question is “Is this going to be the last time we hear such thing from the police force?”
