The Black Stars are currently in Japan participating in the Kirin Cup tournament. We had a host of stars missing out due to injuries and other ailments. We are well stocked in all the sections of the team. One section of the team we have been particularly weak in is the goalkeeping department. That has been our problem for so many years. What are the national team handlers doing to resolve the situation? When are we going to see another Sammy Adjei or Abukari Damba?
All the keepers we have had in the immediate past hears haven’t been convincing yet we keep inviting them. Richard Ofori has his flaws and needs to get better. Injuries also haven’t been fair to him. As for Ati Zigi, the least said about him the better. He has gotten numerous chances but has failed to convince yet he is still getting invites. Why are we overlooking the bright young goalkeepers in this country? Why are the local goalkeepers not getting any chance? Some of them are much better than Ati Zigi.
The world cup is not far away. If we don’t solve this problem, it will come back to haunt us when we least expect it.
