Newly promoted Ghana Premier League, GPL side FC Samartex 1996 has targeted a stay in the Elite Division with plans of further expansion.
The Timber Giants plans to be very competitive in the Ghanaian top-flight league starting from next season when they will make their debut in the competition.
They will play their home games at Samreboi and plans to make the Samartex Stadium a fortress for visiting teams with the likes of Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics and Medeama SC all expected to visit the venue next season.
Club CEO, Edmund Ackah told the local media on Wednesday that they have not joined the league to make the numbers but, will aim for the ultimate in every competition they enter.
FC Samartex has been promoted to the GPL from the national Division One League, DOL Zone Two with three matches to end the campaign.
Theirs, have been 26 years of trying to achieve this dream and, they intend to make the most of this opportunity going forward according to Mr Ackah.
“The ultimate will be to host an African club game at Samreboi, and, we will keep pushing to that level”, he said.
And, they will have huge backing from the management of the timber firm that owns the club as well as their sponsors in their quest to achieve this aim.
