The Electronic Levy initiative by the New Patriotic Party government seems to have brought much burden to many MOMO users and thus, most people have chosen not to use MOMO again.
Although the government is also making millions of Cedis daily from the E-levy initiative, geared towards the development of the country.
The biggest Mobile Network company in Ghana, MTN in order to give MOMO users some burden relief has reduced their P2P MOMO transaction charge by 25%, which is from 1% to 0.75%.
Below is the message they sent to their customers;
“Y’ello Valued Customer, kindly be informed that MTN has reduced its P2P MoMo transaction charge by 25%, that is from 1% to 0.75%. Transactions above Ghc1000 are also capped at GHS7.5. Please note that P2P transactions up to Ghc100 on all networks are free from E-levy. Visit www.mtn.com.gh for more information. Keep using MoMo for the convenience and safety it offers. Thank you.”
This tends to be great news to all Mobile money users because, it tends to reduce the burden E-levy brought.
