Lydia Forson, a Ghanaian actress, has reacted to the death of E-Levy by writing a statement.
On Tuesday, the Electronic Transactions Bill, which has been a source of controversy, was approved in its third reading. Even before the bill was enacted, the minority withdrew their support.
Lydia Forson said in a blog post that if the E-Levy has a positive impact on the nation, she would be the first to admit she was mistaken about it.
She wrote on Twitter: “If this #elevy really does transform this country the way they say it will; I will be first in line to admit I was wrong, until then….”
She also mentioned what would have made her appreciate the E-Levy more.
“If the #elevy was framed like the Agaciro Development Fund; a fund citizens contribute to in Rwanda, to help make the country less dependent on foreign aid(which I learnt about on one of my trips there) I would have appreciated it more because I actually loved the idea.”
