Amidst the state of insecurity ravaging the nation, Deji Adeyanju has taken it upon himself to write an open letter to the president of the federation. In the message which was shared on his official Facebook page, the activist cried out that the average Nigerian is left at the mercy of bandits and kidnappers while also urging the president to take decisive actions.
The convener of the Concerned Nigerians advocacy group did not fail to reference the series of terrorist attacks in Kaduna where he noted that the state is gradually becoming the capital of insecurity in Nigeria. Deji Adeyanju said:
‘Mr. President, Nigeria is bleeding. For some time now, bandits have taken over the entire
North West, North East and North Central while kidnappers are having a field day in the Southern part of the country.’
The activist further lamented that the average Nigerian cannot travel travel by air, road or rail to Kaduna. While suggesting the possible way out of this menace, the human rights activist requested the total reorganization of the security units.
Deji Adeyanju also opined that an executive bill be sent to the National Assembly with a view to amending the Constitution towards the creation of state policing.
He finally hinted that the root cause of the insecurity must be addressed by the provision of employment and basic amenities for the average Nigerian.
Despite the acquisition of fighter jets which were purchased to aid the fight against insurgency, the efforts of the government and the military have not yielded much result as the terrorists continue to carry out attacks in the northern part of the country.
