The Akwapem North Constituency Organiser of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has been suspended from all party-related activities following the outcome of investigations into his recent conduct.
According to a letter signed by the Eastern Regional Secretary of the NPP, Jeff Konadu Addo, it follows a petition filed one Mr. Carlos Jeffrey Abinginale, a member of the party in the area invoking the jurisdiction of the Regional Steering Committee about the conduct of the embattled Youth Organiser.
He is being cited for violating Article 3 clause 5 of the NPP Constitution after he was alleged to have at a press conference accused the President of the Republic of destroying the party in the Constituency, accused the Party’s National Chairman and General Secretary of destroying the party in the Constituency. threatened and blackmailed the government on Facebook live, with the E-Levy Bill, threatened to collapse the party in 2024 by projecting his own parliamentary candidate and threatened the Member of Parliament and warned her not to show up in Parliament to support the E-Levy Bill.
According to Regional Steering Committee in the letter dated March 25, 2022, the staunch supporter of the incumbent lawmaker of the area his “actions and utterances in the said press conference amounts to gross misconduct in contradiction to Article 3 Clause 5A and Article 4 Clause 7( Ig) of the party’s constitution. The issue is therefore referred to the Regional disciplinary committee for disciplinary, inquiry into the matter and/or for further action”
The latter added “In the meantime. I am directed by the Regional Steering Committee to write to suspend you Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie from all activities of the party with immediate effect until the disciplinary process is completed. Thank you for your usual cooperation”
