Speaking in a recent press conference over the most anticipated issue, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey took the privilege to express immense disappointment aside revealing another secret over circulating news claiming that, Ghanaian students were attacked by Russians in Ukraine.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, these delicate times doesn’t require individuals to circulate such unproven allegations which will end up causing more harm than good to these students whose siblings are in Ghana.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey later revealed that, the Ghanaian students who were relocating from Ukraine as a result of the ongoing crisis were never attacked by Russians but the circulating news were a form of propaganda by some politicians in the country against the incumbent government’s effort to help save the situation.
“Let’s all endeavor to stay clear of sensationalism and unconfirmed reports. These only serve to heighten tensions at these times. We have parents, family and friends of these Ghanaian students who are stuck in a war situation, and the least we can do is not to play politics or to be sensational with news that is not confirmed”, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey emphatically stated.
