The Black Stars of Ghana have been eliminated from the African Cup of Nations hosted in Cameroon.
The quest for the West African Nation to win another Cup of Nations since 1982 came to an end following a 2-1 defeat to Comoros in the last group game of the competition. Ghana needed a win to secure themselves a spot in the second round but that dream could not come to reality.
Comoros took the lead on the fourth minute through the boots of Fardou Ben. Things went from bad to worse for the Black Stars when Andre Ayew got himself sent off on the 25th minute.
Mogni extended the lead of Comoros on the 61st minute but the lead did not last more than five minutes. Two quick goals from Djiku and Boakye ensured the Black Stars went level in the game.
Ghana’s hope of qualification came to an end when Mogni’s got himself a brace to give themselves a lead for the second time in the game on the 81st minute. The game ended 3-2 in favour of Comoros, they will hope the result is enough for them to qualify to the Round of 16.
The other group game between Gabon and Morocco ended 2-2. Morocco top the group with seven points while Gabon finished second on the group table.
