Social Commentator Kwame Asare Obeng known popularly as A Plus has questioned the current government on when it will stop listening and think.
The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government has been touted as a “Listening Government” because the government forces policies and initiatives on the neck of the people and after strong opposition to them, tries to engage in some form of modification or pull it out and claim to be listening to the people.
Martin Amidu in one of his epistles indicated that this government does not believe in stakeholder consultations and therefore forcefully push through their agenda only to pull back when they see that it is facing opposition from the people of Ghana.
Reacting to claims of the government being a listening government, Kwame A Plus believes that it is time for the government to stop paying itself on the back and think because that’s what the country needs.
He posits that a thinking government will realize that at this time in the life of Ghana, it should not rent a luxurious aircraft for the President whiles the people of Ghana are suffering because the country is broke.
He said “Listening government, listening government, who can’t listen? What happened to thinking? Can’t you stop listening and THINK that it is not right to fly luxurious jets at a time when the country is so broke that you want to impose taxes on people sending money to their poor relatives in the village? Who in their right sense will support E-Levy when you have clearly indicated that you want to use the money to buy a new presidential jet so that you can bath in the sky? Stop listening and start THINKING!!! Nobody hates anyone”.
