Joe Igbokwe, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, has reacted to the report of a student of University of Ilorin that beat a female lecturer for refusing to waive SIWES course for him.

In a statement made by the special adviser to Lagos State government on drainages and water resources on Facebook, he suggested that no university in Nigeria should give the student who brutalized his lecturer admission again and that his stay in the University should be voided forthwith.

“I suggest that no University in Nigeria should give him admission again. His years in the University of Ilorin should be considered as wasted and lost. The young man has no home training. He is just a loose canon.”

Recall that report had it that a 400-level final year student of the institution who is simply identified as Salaudeen Waliyu, popularly known as aka Captain Walz, allegedly beat the female lecturer to a stupor.

Waliyu, a 400-level student of the Department of Microbiology, allegedly attacked his lecturer in her office after the latter refuses to assist him over his inability to complete his mandatory Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme(SIWES).

Narrating what led him to beating his lecturer to stupor, Waliyu said he recently visited Allen Avenue in Lagos to meet a friend of his for the first time, and while he was waiting for his friend, he felt the urge to urinate but was mistaken taken for a thief by the people in the area.

He further said that when this happened to him, he was not allowed to give account before the mob pounded on him, and almost meted out jungle justice to him, but luckily he was handed over to the police that resulted into his being detained for four months, hence, he couldn’t go for his SIWES programme.

He said that after the incident, he met with Mrs Zakariyau that she should assist her to wave the course to avoid spending an extra year in the University, but she refused to, hence, his frustration that made him attack her in her office on that fateful day.
