Kwabena Yeboah who is the incumbent president of Ghana’s Sports Writers Association of insists Ghana as a country has no business being at the World Cup as long as the Black Stars’ team can’t beat Ethiopia.
“I am not expecting anything less than total victory against Ethiopia. I have made this point and I am not being cynical that if we can’t beat Ethiopia, there is absolutely no reason to go to the World Cup Cup because, no disrespect to Ethiopia, they are one of the weakest side on the continent,” said Kwabena Yeboah to Citi Sports prior to the match.
The four-time African champions engaged the Walias of Ethiopia on Thursday in South Africa in the penultimate Group G World Cup qualifier but the match ended in 1-1 draw.
So, as it stands, the Black Stars are three points behind the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and Ghana can only qualify for the World Cup if they win the final game on Sunday.
Ghana missed the 2018 World Cup in Russia and is hoping to make a return in Qatar 2022.
