A head teacher of a Junior High School (JHS) in Dansoman, George Agyekum, has been dragged to court for allegedly defiling a student.
The victim, who is a final year JHS student was lured by the headteacher after her father asked the headteacher to help organize extra classes for his daughter ahead of upcoming examinations.
Prosecution at the court stated that on September 7, the headteacher gave the victim some capsules and instructed her to insert and also swallow in order to prevent pregnancy after defiling her however the victim did not insert nor swallow the medicine after taking it from Agyekum.
Prosecution further said that the complaint got to know about the situation after the victim narrated the situation to a “Good Samaritan” who in turn informed the complaint.
The complaint after getting to know the situation, reported it to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Dansoman and the Agyekum was arrested.
Prosecution added that the police issued a medical form to the complaint to seek medical care for the victim.
George Agyekum however pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement.
The court, presided over by Mrs Christina Cann, admitted Agyekum to bail in the sum of GHC80,000 with three sureties, two of the sureties are to be justified with landed property worth GHC50,000.
The court also ordered prosecution to file its witness statements and adjourned the case to November 23, 2021.
