The Ashanti Region is in the news again and this time around another gang of armed robbers have been gunned down by the police. The armed robbers who had planned an attack on a business man at Buakrom Estate were unlucky when the police gathered intellegnce ahead of them. Once again, the intelligence did not fail.
They were ready to launch their operation but the anti robbery squad of the Ashanti Region Police Command were already available upon the intellegnce gathered. The vehicles they were using become the target of the police. Barriers were mounted and through serach were conducted on every single vehicle that passed.
The armed robbers who had ammunitions in their vehicle realised their cup were full and decided to fight at the police by shooting, but professionalism was at work.
The Police officers overpowered them and killed three of the armed robbers instantly. One of them who is alleged to be the gang leader could not help it and also recieved gunshots. He is currently injured and have been admitted at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment but under handcuffs. He will definitely face the laws and explain how the started robbing people.
Another person who is also believed to be connected with the robbery was arrested by the police and is currently behind bars assisting in investigations.
A serach in their vehicle reavealed that ammunitions which they were using for the robbery were in full readiness. They had bkack hoods to cover their faces to avoid people recognising them.
The police have once again stopped another roberry which would have caused the death of innocent persons. The business man involved had no idea these armed robbers were attacking him. Innocent lives would have been lost in the process. Kudos to the Ghana Police Service led by the IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare for their intervention. It would be reacllae another gang of armed robbers with a similar plan were gunned down recently in the Ashanti Region. Gradually, the fight against armed robebrs and other criminals will be won.
