Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool team suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday night when they played their 11th league game of the season against West Ham United at the London Stadium, where they lost with dramatic three goals to two scoreline at full time.
The Reds who kick-started the campaign remarkably have initially been a topic of discussion which made them to be tipped as one of the strong favourite contenders to win the league, after bouncing back from their last disappointing campaign where they struggled to make the top fours due to growing list of injury which kept most of their key players off the pitch of play.
They seemed to pick up their piece in the early part of the season with a brilliant run of form with the hope to win their second title in three years but things have started to change the other way round for the Merseyside club, having been inconsistent with getting result despite been unbeaten.
It also came as a shock for the Reds yesterday after they fell to the David Moyes’ side which was their first defeat of the season in the premier league.
This was Liverpool’s first defeat in 26 games across all competitions (W18 D7), ending what was their joint-longest unbeaten run since they joined the Football League in 1893. The big win for the Hammers against Liverpool was the first win for their manager in their fifteen (15) premier league meetings.
Liverpool prior their disappointing defeat of the night played a two all draw against Brighton and Hove Albion which raised a question about their potential of winning the title this season, considering their inability to beat 10-man Chelsea team earlier this season.
Having dropped to the 4th spot on the table, the matter could be worse in their next fixture in the league as they will be playing against in-form Arsenal team immediately after the international break with two points separating the two sides going into the game.
With Arsenal currently having the longest unbeaten run in the premier league taking their streak to 10 with victory over the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City among others keeping seven clean sheets in all.
Liverpool could now be facing another defeat which will make them drop more points on the log as the Mikel Arteta’s side are currently doing wonders with a great sense of determination and a turnaround transformation.
Liverpool will now be facing a test of time to get their campaign back on track when they host the North London club at the Anfield stadium after the international break.
