Chelsea dropped points at home to Burnley on Saturday as the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by the Clarets. The West London club was guilty of several missed chances in the game and was made to pay as Burnley got a late equaliser to steal a point from Stamford Bridge.
Here is a ranking of Chelsea’s attacking players from the least to most clinical in the Premier League so far this season. Players are ranked according to stats provided by the Premier League official site.
Kai Havertz
4 big chances missed, 1 big chance scored
Kai Havertz is the Chelsea player most guilty of missing big chances in the Premier League so far this season.
The German has been deployed as a centre forward in recent weeks in the absence of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. However, the big signing has not exactly taken his opportunity well.
From 5 big chances Havertz has seen so far this season, he has missed 4 and scored just 1. He did score a difficult goal against Liverpool though.

Ross Barkley
2 big chances missed, 0 big chance scored
Ross Barkley has gotten more playing time in Chelsea’s front 3 due to recent injury problems and has been decent. However, he hasn’t been so clinical in front of goal.
He’s gotten only 2 big chances in the EPL so far this season and he’s scored none.
Timo Werner
2 big chances missed, 1 big chance scored
It comes as a surprise to very few Chelsea fans that Timo Werner is high up in a list as this.
Werner has been well known for missing chances since his arrival at the club last season and there’s been little to no difference so far this season. He’s gotten 3 big chances in the EPL so far this season and has missed 2 of them.
His 33.3% conversion rate from big chances is very poor for a centre forward.
Hakim Ziyech
1 big chance missed, 0 big chance scored
Hakim Ziyech is another Chelsea forward who has failed to take advantage of Chelsea’s injury crisis. As a matter of fact, the Moroccan has failed to really impress since his move to Chelsea last year.
He has only gotten one big chance in the EPL so far this season and he missed it.
Romelu Lukaku
2 big chances missed, 2 big chances scored
A 50% conversion rate from big chances isn’t good enough for a player Romelu Lukaku’s calibre. However, he has been unfortunate to hit the post twice in the EPL so far this season.
He has gotten 4 big chances in the EPL so far this season and he has been able to bury just two for them. The fact that he has 3 PL goals in total means that he also scored from a chance not adjudged to be a big chance.
Christian Pulisic
0 big chance missed, 1 big chance scored
Christian Pulisic has had very limited playing time the EPL so far this season. As a matter of fact, the last time he last time he featured in the league before the Burnley game was in the game against Crystal Palace on the opening weekend of the season.
His goal against Palace means that the USMNT captain has scored his only big chance in the EPL so far this season.
Callum Hudson-Odoi
0 big chance missed, 1 big chance scored
Like Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi also has a 100% conversion rate from 1 big chance. However, according to stats provided by fbref, the Englishman has a lower non-penalty expected goal (npxG) of 0.3 compared to the American (0.4).
Mason Mount
0 big chance missed, 2 big chances scored
Mason Mount is Chelsea’s most clinical player so far this season as the England international has a conversion rate of 100% from 2 big chances.
Perhaps, the team should work more on creating big chances for the Chelsea Player of the Year award holder. Mount has 3 PL goals in total so far this season.
