Prophet Dr Kofi Oduro is lamenting the manner at which people have resorted to insulting the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently. According to the renowned man of God, he is saddened and disgusted at the gross disrespect today’s generation have accorded the President.
He exclaimed that his observations during the past week has been marked with horrible descriptions and insults aimed at the President, adding that it’s rather shameful such attitude has dominated not only in Ghana but across the globe.
Prophet Dr Oduro remarked that such behaviours caused the fall of biblical Babylon, adding that the youth’s unrestrained attack on authority could result in unpleasant consequences. He stressed that there is no blessing for those who indulge in these verbal attacks and ridiculing of the President.
“This week I have been too saddened. When I look at the acrimony and the insults hauled on our President from all over the world. Herrr, I want to tell this generation, stop it! It’s not a blessing!!”
He argued that civilized societies resort to constructive criticisms in addressing their disagreement with authorities, adding that the President if not for anything could be someone’s father or a respected relative. He warned that the country is losing its values and that the next generation could end up with some aversive attitude far worse than it is today.
“The fact that the President does something and you don’t agree doesn’t mean you should insult him. We all don’t agree with him and the government on what they do sometimes but we don’t come here to insult anybody.
“At least the President of Ghana can be your father, your uncle. Would you have insulted and denigrated him if he was a relative?” he questioned.
Prophet Oduro counselled that it is not within anyone’s moral right to label the President as evil or worse if they dislike him. He insisted that Ghanaians accord President Akufo Addo the respect he deserves and criticize his government in a more decent and constructive manner if they have issues with decisions they take.
“The fact that you don’t like President Akufo Addo doesn’t mean he is evil. …that there is a generation today that can sit in their rooms and insult the President?” he cried.
