Euro 2020 is in the last stages of the tournament with Italy being the finalist after beating former European champions Spain in Penalties. Spain has been good but Italy deserved to be in the finals from the way they have performed since the competition started.
After the tournament, there will be some awards which will be given to some of the players who performed well in the European Championship. Awards like the tournament’s golden boot, best goal, best player, best young player among others.
Chelsea star Kai Havertz has been considered the player to win the best young players awards in Euro 2020 after being the best player for his country Germany in the tournament. The former Bayer Leverkusen attacking scored two goals for Germany which saw him become the favourite player to win it.
However, there have been some fine young talents in the tournament like Federico Chiesa, Phil Foden and Pedri Gonzalez. The young Barcelona midfielder has been one of the best players in the tournament and his performance against Italy last night saw him getting compared to his country’s and club legends Andrea Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.
He completed 55 matches in the 90 minutes against Italy and some were not just simple passes but also some incredible through passes. Pedri had a great breakthrough season at Barcelona last campaign which saw him being called by Luis Enrique to play in Euros.
He has brilliant so far in the tournament and became the first young player at the age of 18-years-old to start in the Euros semifinals. Pedri deserves to win the award for a young player in the tournament after helping the Spanish side reach the semis of the tournament.
