The Black Stars of Ghana is part of the numerous countries that have booked their place to play in the next year’s Africa Cup Of Nations which will be noted in Cameroon.
It has been almost 40 years since Ghana won the trophy, and have been to the finals twice since 2010, losing to Egypt and The Ivory Coast.
This edition of the tournament seems to be a make or break for the country, and one of the major targets for the head coach thus to win the trophy.
The question is, has Ghana done enough in terms of preparations? Should we leave Asamoah Gyan, the team’s top scorer behind, and reply on Jordan Ayew and co?
Here we are looking at the reasons why Asamoah Gyan, the general captain must be included in the squad for next year’s tournament.
1. Current Team Luck Goal Scorers.
Since the introduction of Asamoah Gyan in the early 2000s, Ghana has never seen a potent striker of his caliber. Rising through to become Ghana’s all-time top scorer usurping the legendary Abedi Pele.
There have been times that Ghana has relied on Jordan Ayew, aside from his flair and a few skills, he has flattered to deceive in terms of being a clinical finisher, not like Asamoah.
The team has had the likes of Caleb Ekuban, Majeed Waris, John Antwi, Raphael Dwamena in recent years but all could not stand the test of time. And yesterday’s friendly against Morocco is a clear case.
2. Gyan Has Been Ghana’s Best player In Recent Tournaments.
Undoubtedly, since Ghana’s first World cup in Germany in 2006, Asamoah Gyan has been the main man and the face of the team. He has scored first in the majority of the tournament being it the World Cup or the AFCON, scoring important goals in knocked-out faces as well. None of the current strikers have been able to do so.
