Veteran musician Akosua Agyapong, among 3 other personalities have taken legal action against Rex Omar, Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obour and 13 others over issues concerning the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).
The other applicants namely George William Dickson, Ama Afriyie and Sloppy Mike Gyamfi in addition to Akosua are asking the Accra High Court to commit the 15 respondents to years’ imprisonment over contempt.
They describe the actions of the respondents as bad conduct which is likely to affect the subject of the main court matter by the way their contempt practice was overly exhibited.
According to them, the respondents rejected and disobeyed court processes served to them and carried out matters which they were told never to supervise.
The 15 respondents are namely Rex Owusu Marfo, Ahmed Banda, Diana Hopeson, Bice Osei Kuffour, Augustina Addison, Nana Kwaku Duah, Oeneba Kissi, Ernest Kwesi Eninng, Seth Kwaku Amponsah, Henry Bessa Simons, Benjamin Mensah, Francis Boahen, Abraham Nuertey Adjetey, Annabel Adu Gyamfi and Yaw Oxbon.
The applicants are owners, musicians, composers, singers, producers, publishers and performers who have assigned their works to GHAMRO and are expected to receive Royalties from it.
