A former National Communications Officer for the major opposition political party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Nkansah has taken a swipe at the party’s leadership for having expelled the former Deputy General Secretary, Samuel Koku Anyindoho, and the former Central Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacobs, from the party. According to him, the decision by the Functional Executive Committee was not well-thought-through, adding that their rivalry, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are better managers of supposed rogue executives.
He mentioned in an interview with Takoradi Based Skyy Power Fm that, for years the NPP had proven to be accommodating of persons such as the Assin North Parliamentarian, Kennedy Agyapong, without taking any aggressive reaction to his conduct. Solomon Nkansah remarked that the NDC failed to protect and guide Allotey Jacobs and Koku Anyidoho, at a time when they went rogue against the party.
He feared the consequences of the expulsion of these party men cannot be overlooked, and thus warned the NDC leadership to be careful of their actions.
“The approach they took was wrong. The leadership of the party could have taken a rather corrective and accommodating approach in addressing whichever wrong these people committed. Giving them out by the expulsion is not the best. They could have been managed…talked to.
“The NPP has been able to manage Kennedy Agyapong whose temperament is even worse, and NDC could not manage Koku and Allotey. That is terrible. They failed them and it is very unfortunate. The NDC leadership must be careful”.
Mr. Nkansah emphasized that there are tensions heating up in the core of the party’s grassroots and that doesn’t mean well for the NDC. He recounted that the recent protest by the Cadres for Accountable Leadership is just one of a few signals that the party leadership must work at quickly.
“There is something called operation 1,000 signatures to bring back Mahama. Cadres are also speaking about election figures. Now there is a group that is attacking John Mahama then the national Chairman has said that it’s only Mahama that can be the party’s favorite. People will not be happy with this.
But since the announcement, Allotey Jacobs had been very much upset and rained insults at the party leadership and mode at which they expelled him from the NDC.
