2 separate accidents on Kintampo-Tamale road claim lives at same spot 30 died last year

Two separate accidents on the Kintampo-Tamale Highway in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East region on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, have claimed the lives of two persons and left several others with varying degrees of life-threatening injuries.

According to eyewitnesses account available to MyNews, the first accident occurred at the same spot where several where over 30 persons were killed last year in a ghastly accident Dawadawa number 2

The first accident involving a SsangYong Istana  Urvan bus which was heading Tamale from Yeji but according to the account of some victims to MyNews, on reaching Dawadawa and Atta Akura, both in Kintampo North, one of the tyres of their vehicle burst causing it tosomersault and went up in flames.

The vehicle, according to them got burnt completely together with their belongings but fortunately, all passengers escaped unhurt with few sustaining some bruises

The second accident involving a sprinter Mercedes Benz bus with registration number GR5763-18 occurred at Soronoase near Babatokuma also in the Kintampo North Municipality at around 4 pm the same day.

It is gathered that the sprinter bus was trying to overtake a tractor vehicle when one of the tyres of the tractor suddenly removed and fell infront of the bus causing it to veer off the road.

Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service revealed that about 25 passengers including two babies were on that bus. 16 of them; 7 females and 9 males according to the fire Service’s record were seriously injured

One of the babies( a girl) and a 52 years old Matilda Kwetibile suspected to be her mother, are confirmed dead and their bodies deposited at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital’s mortuary.
