The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region would deploy drones to monitor the 2020 electoral processes to protect the ballots against attempted manipulations by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party Mr. Augustus Nana Akwasi has hinted
According to him, the decision by the party to deploy drones and other apparatus emerged after leadership of the party in the Ashanti Region got to the realization that events emerging from the preparation towards the polls from both the leadership of the NPP and the police command in the region a grand scheme to intimidate key members of their party.
“The NDC has drones we would be working with on that day. We shall deploy drones at hotspots to make sure we have enough evidence for election irregularities. The whole process would be broadcasted live”. Mr. Augustus Nana Akwasi told Akoma Fm in an interview monitored by MyNewsGH.com.
“We the NDC are not going to lose guard on the ground”, he added.
In his interview, Mr. Nana Akwasi also accused the NPP Chairman in the Ashanti Region Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi of planning to sack NDC polling agents from the various polling stations adding that he (Nana Akwasi) called the regional Police Commander on the matter but nothing has been done since.
“We the NDC shall protect ourselves not with guns. What I tell our party supporters is that after voting, we must stay at polling stations to protect our polling agents. We shall video every little incident with our cameras and phones till the ballots are counted”, Nana Akwasi stressed.
Speaking on category of people the party intend to use on the voting day as poling agents, Nana Akwasi revealed, “we are using lawyers, we are using professionals and we are using our secretaries so nobody should think of bribing our people”.
