Veteran Journalist, Kwesi Pratt has debunked the assertions that Edward Omane Boamah and other young National Democratic Congress (NDC) were recruited to attack Jerry John Rawlings.
Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi in his book titled “working with Rawlings” claimed that Omane Boamah, Okudzeto Ablakwa and other young NDC politicians were recruited into the NDC to “talk back” at Jerry John Rawlings.
But speaking on Pan African Television monitored by MyNews, Kwesi Pratt said that claim was not factual because he recruited Dr.Omane Boamah into the NDC.
According to him, when he recruited Dr. Omane Boamah, he was a card bearing member of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) but had challenges with the NPP over GETFUND issues.
“Omane Boamah for example was recruited by me and I can tell you the story today. When we formed the Committee for Joint Action and we were going to hold our first Press Conference, we had to decide on who to read that statement. I made a point at the meeting that Omane Boamah is quite an articulate young man and that he was the President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), he was a card bearing member of the New Patriotic Party but had problems with the government on account of GetFund and that if you could get him to read that thing it gives us a broad National appeal.
It took about two days to trace Omane Boamah to come and read that statement. So, the first Press Conference statement was read by Omane Boamah. That’s how Omane Boamah joined the CJA and eventually became an activist of the National Democratic Congress. I know him very well.”
He described Felix Ofosu Kwaky, Okudzeto Ablakwa and Dr Omane Boamah as some of the most intelligent young men he has met in politics touting their eloquence indicating that he will be surprised that someone will say they were recruited as attack dogs.
