Hard-speaking Member of Parliament(MP) for Ningo-Prampram Sam Nartey George has criticized the National Peace Council, saying, the council is a threat to national peace because of its bias towards the ruling NPP.
According to the NDC MP, the National Peace Council has deliberately kept an eye away from the various attacks perpetuated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) hoodlums against National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters.
“The National Peace Council is a threat to peace. They have shown their biasness towards the NPP in this registration exercise; I’m not surprised. Their posture is dangerous to the peace we enjoyed during His Excellency John President Mahama’s era”, he spoke on Joy FM’s Newsfile monitored by MyNews.
“If you follow the sequence of events at Banda Ahenkro murderer, who is the perpetrator and one fostering violence in this registration exercise.
That is the breakdown of law and order in this country. That is the illegality and irreponsibility that has been fostered by such a person by the President [Akufo-Addo] himself. Because the person sent a signal to hoodlums and tabs in his party when the Ayawaso West Wuogon Commission found culpabilities of individuals, the president rubbish the report and refused to prosecute those people.” He added
He continued” it means that the President has served notice that he won’t prosecute anyone in his party.”
Also, Sam George said” one of the alleged principal perpetrators of the murder of the late Yaa Naa, three days before was arrested by the police with unregistered weapons in his vehicle.”
“The police officer who carried out the arrest was ordered to proceed on a transfer for arresting that gentleman. The gentleman when the police arrested him bragged that his party was in power”, he added.
He stressed further that “I’ve spoken to the first deputy chief whip of the minority who is the MP for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim and he confirmed to me that Joe Danquah personally led a team to his house that assaulted his brother. That raised the temperature in the community.”
