2018 U-17 Women’s World Cup Golden Boot Winner, Abdulai Mukarama has expressed optimism of helping Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens win a trophy in the near future.
The Tyler Junior College in Texas, USA student athlete is currently back in Ghana due to the Coronavirus pandemic and has been keeping fit at her base in Tamale.
Speaking in an interview with TV3, Mukarama expressed delight in going through the juvenile level and playing for the senior women’s team.
She also sung the praise of Black Queens coach, Mercy Tagoe and her wonderful relationship with the players.
“The Black Queens are the senior women’s national side. And, from the Black Princesses to the Black Maidens every player wants to go through that process and play with the Black Queens.
“It has been a good experience to be with them. They have a good coach. She’s been amazing with the players; I mean the relationship with the players on and off the field.”
The 2018 U-17 World Cup bronze ball winner then expressed optimism, saying, growing up she hasn’t seen the Black Queens win a trophy and will be happy to lift a laurel with them.
“From the Black Princesses going to the Black Queens, I really had a good sense of knowledge that we are going to do well if we the players are thinking of getting something for the Black Queens.
“Growing up, I’ve not heard the Black Queens have won a trophy. It’s my dream to be part of the Black Queens to win a trophy”, she concluded.
The former Northern Ladies striker is awaiting cases of COVID-19 to subside for her to leave to the USA and continue with her education and sport.
