The National Communications Director for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Adentan, Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoah has described the Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as someone who is not up to the task.
Speaking with Kwame Tanko on Angel In The Morning on Kumasi-based Angel FM in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh on Wednesday morning, he said that it is evident that the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), does not bring any advantage to the ticket of the former president, John Dramani Mahama for another term at the presidency.
“It is not because she is a woman; there have been women in Ghana who have distinguished themselves in politics and have actually been on the forefront to contest for the ultimate; was Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings not a woman and she wanted to be president; so they should not let it seem like criticizing the woman is an attack on women”, he said.
Moments after she was announced as the running mate to John Mahama, Yaw Buaben Asamoah called a press conference to cast doubts at her capabilities to work as a running mate, triggering a myriad of calls on him by various women groups to apologize.
But Yaw Buabeng Asamoah insists that he said nothing wrong and still stands by his earlier comments that “the women can’t do the work”.
