The Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Health Service in a joint statement has said that Accra Girls Senior High School has recorded 55 COVID-19 cases.
“As of 13 July 2020, a total of 314 persons (student and staff) from the School have been tested. Out of these, 55 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 while 259 persons tested negative.”
This comes a week after the school recorded its first case in which some students, a teacher and his wife had tested positive for the virus.
The statement said to prevent the sporadic spread of the virus, the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Health Service has instituted some measures to help contain the disease in the various Senior High Schools across the country.
The GES and GHS assured the public that “efforts are being made to ensure the safety of our staff and students”.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s current case count as of 13 July 2020 was 24, 988 out of which the number of clinical recoveries has also gone up to 21,067. The number of active cases has fallen to 3,782 with death toll been 139.
