The National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTAs) has asked the government of Ghana to postpone the impending WASSCE and BECE exams to a date that is safe to allow students to write.
Final Year students in Universities, Senior High Schools(SHSs) and Junior High Schools(JHSs) are in school to write their final exams in order not to disrupt the academic calendar.
But the rising number of cases in the various Senior High Schools has sent shivers down the spine of parents and other stakeholders who believe it could get worse.
Reacting to the current situation, the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTAs) has called on the government to close down the schools and also postpone the examinations.
“In the current circumstances, the children are psychologically unstable and would therefore, not be of sound mind to write the WASSCE and BECE examinations and come out successfully,” a statement from the NCPTAs said.
“We, therefore, suggest that these examinations be postponed till the situation is brought under control.”
