Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew scored a brilliant penalty for Swansea City in their English Championship matchday 41 clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday. It ensured that Swansea are in the race for the Championship play-offs at the end of the season.
Andre Ayew has been on a terrific form for the Welsh side all season and on Sunday scored yet another goal that could prove decisive for the Swans season.
Liverpool loanee, Rhian Brewster drilled Roberts’ cross beyond Wildsmith to register Swansea’s first of the game in the 52nd minute.
Fourteen minutes later, Swansea doubled their lead as Roberts was bundled over in the box by Adam Reach, with referee Stephen Martin showing no hesitation in pointing to the spot.
Ayew sent Wildsmith the wrong way from 12 yards out to put the Swans two-clear.
It was Ayew’s fourteenth goal in the Championship and his 16th overall this season.
There was still time for Sheffield to get a consolation. Atdhe Nuhiu struck in additional time to end the game 2-1 in favor of Swansea.
Ayew’s Swansea are now 8th on the Championship table with 60 points and four points shy of the play-off positions.
