The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has advised all the 41 defeated Members of Parliament(MPs) in the just-ended New Patriotic Party(NPP) to fear delegates the next time they are going in for an election.
On June 20, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) went to the polls to elect Parliamentary Candidates for all the Constituencies where they have sitting MPs across the country.
The elections produced some surprising and shocking results across the country with some 41 sitting members of parliament losing their seats.
Speaking at an event at the Alisa hostel to acclaim he and his Vice as flagbearer and running mate of the NPP for the 2020 election, the President of Ghana reminded the losing members of Parliament to fear delegates.
He said “we know that to use the famous words of our one-time General Secretary, we have to continue to fear delegates, but we remain firm in our belief that losing one election cannot and does not mean the end of your political life”.
The President reminded the losing incumbent MPsto take lessons from him who lost several elections but was resolute and his consistency and persistence won him power finally.
“I am a living example. I urge all of us to get over our disappointment quickly and unite to go before the country.”
