The Member of Parliament of Asante Akim North, Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi has fumed at the Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Nimako and the party’s National Organizer, Sammi Awuku for stating that the national executives of the party resolved not to conduct elections in the constituency due to an injunction application they received prior to the parliamentary primaries.
Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM on Monday, June 23 monitored by MyNewsGh, Hon. Appiah Kubi questioned the locust of Evans Nimako and Sammy Awuku on their pronouncement as they are not the mouthpiece of the party neither is any of them the chief executive of the party.
Lawyer Appiah Kubi stated explicitly that, as far as he and the party’s hierarchy are concerned, elections were conducted in all the 24 polling stations in the constituency and he was duly elected as their legitimate parliamentary candidate to represent the party.
He continued that, Evans Nimako and Sammi Awuku have no capacity to make the statements they made as he hasn’t been served with any Court injunction as purported neither has the party executives in the region or the national level communicated to him about a supposed injunction placed on the constituency primaries.
He reiterated that, the election was duly supervised by the party’s executives in the constituency and regional level so the argument about the illegibility of his candidature is one that should be treated with contempt.
