The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aron Mike Ocquaye has consoled the about 40 defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentarians indicating that their defeat does not in any way signal the end of the road.
About 40 MPs of the ruling NPP lost their seats across the country in primaries over the weekend.
But speaking words of inspiration to them, Professor Ocquaye said “In fact, one thing that you should be worried is that sometimes you lose some, sometimes you win; sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
He emphasized that “Once you win a fight, one day or the other prepare to lose one. Once you win a fight, prepare to lose one someday.”
He created laughter with the comment that “In fact, if it wasn’t for the loss, no one will have been here.”
Some of the MPs who lost the elections were Chairman of the Finance Committee, Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah of New Juabeng South; Ben Abdallah Bandah, Chairman of the Constitutional and Legislative Committee of Parliament and MP of Offinso South; Joseph Kofi Adda of Navrongo constituency and Minister of Aviation and Opare-Ansah of Suhum constituency and Chairman of the Communications Committee in Parliament.
