2020 has not been only affected by the COVID-19. The music industry and Ghanaians have been hit by a number of deaths in the music industry which is currently the only industry entertaining the populace and giving us hope of brighter things to come.
Today, the death of another music legend has been reported and that has broken several hearts as the country mourn him and also fight COVID-19.
Let’s take a walk through the number of music icons who were lost to death in 2020.
Nana Tuffour
Highlife musician, Nana Tuffour is reported to have died on June 15,2020. He is reported to have died in the USA after a short illness. Nana Tuffour is credited with songs such as “Me Yere Dada” and Abeiku which were hit songs in Ghana during his hay days. He was 66 years old.
Prophet Seth Frimpong
Gospel Musician Prophet Seth Frimpong aka the Dancing Prophet is also another musician who has died in 2020. He dies in the early hours of Friday, April 24, 2020. Prophet Seth Frimpong died after battling some illness. Prophet Seth Frimpong is popularly known for hit songs like ‘This is just the beginning’ ‘Nyame Anuonyam’ and many others was missing in the music scene until news broke about him in 2017 that he was bedridden. He later released a remix of his popular song ‘Adansidie’ which features Bro Sammy and Emelia Brobbey.
Kofi B
Ghanaian musician, Kofi B is one of the musicians who died in 2020. According to information available, the artiste died during the early hours of Sunday, February 2, 2020 Reports after his death indicated that the ace highlife artiste had not been well for some time now. Kofi B, born Kofi Boakye Yiadom, was known for hit songs such as Mmbrowa, Bantama Kofi Boakye, Koforidua Flowers among other hit songs. He performed on many stages and won several awards.
C.K. Bedi
Prolific Ghanaian keyboardist C.K. Bedi a.k.a APC died at 72. The blind keyboardist was confirmed dead on Monday, April 6, 2020.The veteran instrumentalist is noted for playing for the Yamoah’s Band. He was also noted for his works on songs like “Serwaa Akoto”, “Ehye Wo Bo”, and “Odo Midi Ntwen Me” by Yamoah’s Band, Akwasi Ampofo Agyei, and Obuoba J.A Adofo respectively.
