Earlier this year, highlife artiste, Akwaboah promised his fans through social media that he’s about to release a song featuring Sarkodie and should the song fail to blow in a week he’ll walk from Accra to Kumasi.
Fast forward the song titled ‘Mengye Mani’ was released with many people expecting that the song will blow as expected but surprisingly the song didn’t make huge waves in the music scene and it didn’t get enough airplay as well.
However, Akwaboah born Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr has revealed that he didn’t fulfill his promise to walk from Accra to Kumasi because Sarkodie hasn’t been around since the song was released in order for them to do the video.
Speaking to Cape Coast’s finest radio presenter, Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central monitored by MyNewsGh, Akwaboah said he can only conclude that the song wasn’t a hit if he had a video to complement the audio airplay.
He divulged “No I didn’t walk from Accra to Kumasi because the song was a hit but we were supposed to have a video shoot to support it.
“Unfortunately, Coronavirus has prevented Sarkodie from coming to Ghana for us to do the video shoot. If Sarkodie had been in Ghana for us to shoot the video like by this time the song would be topping the charts.
“So it’s not true that the song didn’t hit as some people are suggesting because when I performed the song at events the response was massive”, he concluded.
