One person has been shot dead in Bolgatanga, capital of the Upper East Region in what appears to be related to the recurring chieftaincy conflict in the area.
The deceased identified as Ayine Abilba aged 36 years, was shot at close range by unknown assailants at Skin Guest House located at Daporetindongo within the Bolgatanga Municipality.
According to the police who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com, a private security man at the Guest House reported that he heard a gunshot outside the guest house.
He came out and saw a young man in a pool of blood lying in the yard of the guest house and notified the police who moved to the crime and met a young man clad in an orange T-shirt and blue jeans with severe wounds on his face and back lying in a supine position.
A search was conducted in the young man ‘s pocket and a wallet containing a voter’s I.D card, Ghana card bearing the name Ayine Abilba aged 36 years, a black L.G phone and cash the sum of GHC 281.00 were found(.)
The scene of crime was combed and a Red Honda Motorbike with registration number M-18-UE 6114, Blow F92 Foreign Pistol with two rounds of ammunitions were seen lying in a nearby gutter believed to belong to the young man with a pool of blood just by the motorbike, a big stone with blood stains and three BB spent shells were also retrieved from the scene of crime
A sign board of the guest house was also seen with marks of bullets.
It was believed that the deceased was shot from where the motorbike was found with the pistol, but he ran a distance of about 20 metres into the yard of the guest house seeking refuge and he fell.
The young man was rushed to the Regional Hospital, Bolga for treatment and was identified as Ayine Abilba alias Aboo, but was pronounced dead by the Medical Officer on duty at the hospital
The body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
